عَطِّل ركابكَ أيُّها السّاري فلا

عَطِّل ركابكَ أيُّها السّاري فلا

كَفٌّ تُرَى لنَدىً ولاَ وجُهٌ نَدِ

كَفٌّ تُرَى لنَدىً ولاَ وجُهٌ نَدِ

Leave your mounts idle, O night traveler, for no

Halt your journey, O traveller, for neither

hand is seen offering bounty, nor a dewy face.

A palm appears amidst the dew, nor face amidst lightning.

واللهِ لاَ فرحَ الزَّمانُ وأَهلهُ

واللهِ لاَ فرحَ الزَّمانُ وأَهلهُ

بِمُؤمَّلٍ بعدَ العزيز مُحمَّدِ

بِمُؤمَّلٍ بعدَ العزيز مُحمَّدِ

By God, may time and its people never rejoice

By God, time and its people have not delighted

in anyone on whom hopes are set after al-ʿAzīz Muḥammad.

In one hoped for since the cherished Muhammad.
