Is there a bearer of news, O flash of lightning,

of neighbors who settled at Bariq?

And O breeze of the moringa trees, is there a waft

from their direction, sent as a gift to a lover?

If they have laden the east wind with their fragrance,

then ah, what a heady fragrance from them!

Or if they send their dream-vision as a night visitor,

then welcome to the visitor who comes by night!

Their faces guide with their radiance

when they appear in the darkness of night.

Their dwelling is my heart, and in my eye they have already

settled at its gushing watering place.
