أَقلعتُ إِلاَّ عَنِ العُقارِ

أَقلعتُ إِلاَّ عَنِ العُقارِ

وَتُبتُ إِلاَّ مِنَ القِمَارِ

وَتُبتُ إِلاَّ مِنَ القِمَارِ

I have given up all but wine,

I have desisted from nothing but properties

and repented of all but gambling.

And repented from nothing but gambling

فَالكأسُ والغُصنُ لَيسَ يَخلو

فَالكأسُ والغُصنُ لَيسَ يَخلو

مِنها يَميني وَلا يَساري

مِنها يَميني وَلا يَساري

For the cup and the bough—never free

So the cup and the branch are not devoid

of them is my right hand, nor my left.

Of them, neither my right nor my left
