لما تعذر لا موا
فَقلتso I said ياO قَومpeople كُفواstop, all of you
فَقلت يا قَوم كُفوا

When he became unattainable, they blamed me.

So I said, “O people, stop!”
قَدindeed كانَthere was ليfor me فيهconcerning him عذرan excuse
قَد كانَ لي فيه عذر
وَاليَومand today ليfor me فيهconcerning him أَلفa thousand
وَاليَوم لي فيه أَلف
Once I had an excuse in this;
I had one excuse concerning him,
today, I have a thousand.”
And today I have a thousand concerning him.
