عصمة الحب من صنيع السماء

وهي صنو لعصمة الأنبياء

Love's sinlessness is heaven's handiwork,

The sanctity of love is made by heaven

and it is the twin of the prophets' sinlessness.

It is a protection for the sanctity of prophets

يخطئ الناس في الحياة استباقاً

يخطئ الناس في الحياة استباقاً

للذاذات قبل يوم الفناء

للذاذات قبل يوم الفناء

People sin in life in their race

People make mistakes in life in anticipation

for pleasures before the day of death,

Of pleasures before the day of demise

وصراعاً ما بين جسم وروح

وصراعاً ما بين جسم وروح

في شتيت الآمال والأهواء

في شتيت الآمال والأهواء

and in the strife between body and soul

And in the struggle between body and soul

amid scattered hopes and desires.

In the dispersion of hopes and desires

ولو ان الأنام قد ضمنوا الخلد

ولو ان الأنام قد ضمنوا الخلد

او ان الأرواح محض صفاء

او ان الأرواح محض صفاء

And if humankind had secured immortality,

If people were guaranteed eternity

or if souls were nothing but purity,

Or souls were pure brightness

لتساموا عن الخطيئة كالقيد

لتساموا عن الخطيئة كالقيد

وعاشوا معيشة الطلقاء

وعاشوا معيشة الطلقاء

they would rise above sin as above a shackle,

They would transcend sin like a shackle

and live the lives of the unfettered.

And live the life of the emancipated

وغناء على الخلود غرام

وغناء على الخلود غرام

هو رمز ووصلة للبقاء

هو رمز ووصلة للبقاء

And passionate love is a song to immortality;

And singing of immortality is a passion

it is a symbol and a link to lasting life.

That is a symbol and a bond to survival

وهو يعلو بالروح عن خطل الجسـ

وهو يعلو بالروح عن خطل الجسـ

ـم ويضفي عليه ثوب الضياء

ـم ويضفي عليه ثوب الضياء

And it lifts the soul above the body's folly,

It transcends the body's confusion and clothes it in radiance

and clothes it in a robe of radiance.

It is light while sin is but

هو نور وما الخطيئة إلا

ظلمة أو حليفة الظلماء

ظلمة أو حليفة الظلماء

It is light, and sin is nothing but

Darkness or an ally of the sinister

darkness, or an ally of the dark.

It transcends time and what time

وهو يسمو عن الزمان وما قد

وهو يسمو عن الزمان وما قد

يقتضيه الزمان من أخطاء

يقتضيه الزمان من أخطاء

And it rises above time and whatever

May require of mistakes

errors time may demand.

It is eternity, while sin is but
