I summoned a handsome cupbearer for the morning draught;

So he rose, sleep's drowsiness still in his eyelids.

He goes round with cups of wine like stars,

Some swooping down upon us, and others scattering away.

وقد نشرت أيدي الجنوب مطارفاً

على الجو دكناً والحواشي على الأرض

And the hands of the south wind had spread out bordered cloaks,

Dark across the sky, their hems upon the earth.

The bow of the clouds embroiders them with yellow

Over red, amid green, beneath white.

كأذيال أقبلت في غلائل

Like trailing hems advancing in gauzy gowns,

Dyed in colors, and some shorter than others.
