Redouble the affliction upon me with all your might,

Double the affliction upon me with all your strength;

and with all your might reach complaint’s utmost limit.

And with all your strength, reach the utmost limit of lamentation;

واجهد وبالغ في مهاجرتي

واجهد وبالغ في مهاجرتي

واجهر بها في السر والنجوى

واجهر بها في السر والنجوى

Exert yourself, and go to extremes in shunning me;

And strive, and go to extremes in forsaking me;

proclaim it openly, in secret and in whispered converse.

And proclaim it in secret and in whispered conversation.

فإذا بلغت الجهد في قلم

فإذا بلغت الجهد في قلم

تترك لنفسك غاية قصوى

تترك لنفسك غاية قصوى

Then, when you have reached the utmost effort with a pen,

Then, when you have reached the utmost exertion “in a pen” [wording unclear],

you leave yourself one final, furthest extreme.

You leave yourself an ultimate limit;

فانظر فهل حال بي انتقلت

فانظر فهل حال بي انتقلت

عما تحب بحالة أخرى

عما تحب بحالة أخرى

Then look: has the state within me changed
