إِنif كانَwas ماwhat بُلِّغتَyou were told عَنّيabout me فَلامَنيthen may he blame me
إِن كانَ ما بُلِّغتَ عَنّي فَلامَني
صَديقيmy friend وَحُزَّتand may they be severed مِنfrom يَدَيَّmy two hands الأَنامِلُthe fingertips
صَديقي وَحُزَّت مِن يَدَيَّ الأَنامِلُ
If what you were told about me is true, then may I be blamed
If what has been conveyed to me about myself is true
By my friend, and may my fingertips be severed from my hands;
Then my friend has betrayed me and taken the reins from my hands
وَكَفَّنتُand may I shroud وَحديby myself مُنذِراًMundhir فيin ثِيابِهِhis clothes
وَكَفَّنتُ وَحدي مُنذِراً في ثِيابِهِ
وَصادَفَand may he encounter حَوطاًHawt مِنamong عَدُوِّيَmy enemies قاتِلُa killer
وَصادَفَ حَوطاً مِن عَدُوِّيَ قاتِلُ
And may I alone shroud Mundhir in his clothes,
And I have wrapped myself alone in my garments as a warner
And may a killer among my enemies encounter Hawt.
And have come across a garrison of my lethal enemy
