كيداً وخسَّه شيمةٍ خاب الأمل
O you who deny closeness to lovers,
O you who hinder the nearness of the people of passion
Out of spite and baseness of character—your hope is dashed.
With evil and meanness, a trait that failed in hope

They race towards impertinence, not knowing
That love was ordained from all eternity.
That love was predestined since the beginning

And love, the cradle of virtue, remains supreme;
And love is the cradle of virtue, prevailing
It lifts whoever seeks its sanctuary to Saturn.
Elevating those who seek its protection to the stars

The ignoble cannot take it away
From the breast of one through whom you knew the giver of life to those of old.
From the heart of those whose first one brings life

Who is it that can prevent the connection
Of two joined by the cord of love?
Of two whom the rope of love has tied together

Until the two spirits became one spirit
They draw each other toward union while bodily apart.
Attracted to each other even as the body separated

Do fools impede the unity of bees
To harm the honey-gatherer keep him from harvesting honey?
In harming those who seek the honey harvest

Prohibition inflames this passion and increases it

After determination, what can action do?

Indeed, will is queen of existence;
Determination in existence is a queen
How often it has turned the seabed into a mountain!
Who has often turned the depths of seas into mountains

So cease blame, stop talk, and hurry
Toward goodness, and cure those ills.
