My beloved, my song has run dry, and my mouth has run dry.
My beloved turned away, and my confidant turned away
And barrenness has put forth leaves in my palm and in my pen.
And barrenness spread in my palms and my pen

about my solitude, my moments of fading, and my weariness.
About my isolation, my wanings, and my boredom

A traveler atop the wave of the letter on paper

I deposited in it the outpouring of my sorrows and the scent of my blood

And they did not know that God's rope is severed
and that, for conquest, they had deemed a swollen man stout.
And that it fattened itself for the conquest of this polyp

Bunaya rose up and history slapped me
so I lost my way between bitter hope and regret.
I wandered between bitter hope and regret

My little son, this is the tragedy, plain to see;
Bunaya this is the tragedy manifest
so look, by your Lord: who is my adversary, and who my judge?
So look by your Lord who is my adversary and my judge?
