أفسحوا للذي تريد المجالا

ودعوها إذا أردتم كمالا

Make room for what she desires,

And leave her free, if you seek perfection.

إنها رحمةٌ وصبرٌ وحبٌ

كرمت فطرة وعزت خصالا

She is mercy, patience, and love,

Noble by nature and exalted in character.

افتحوا البرلمان وانتخبوها

فلكم فاقت السناء الرجالا

Open parliament and elect her,

For how often she has surpassed men in splendor!

ولديكم تاريخها فاقرأوه

تجدوها على النبوغ مثالا

Her history is before you, so read it:

You will find her a model of genius.

وانظروا كيف صاغت الأجيالا

واستطاعت أن تخلق الأبطالا

And see how she fashioned generations,

And was able to create heroes.

وانظروا الأرض لو خلت من سناها

لا خلت كيف تشتكى الإمحالا

And behold the earth, were it bereft of her radiance—

May it never be bereft! How it would lament barrenness!

مزّقوا هذه الغياهب عنها

تعرفوها حقيقة وظلالا

Tear these depths of darkness away from her:

You will know her in reality and in shadows.

تعرفوا القوّة التي لم تروها

فتقيموا لمجدها تمثالا

You will know the strength you have not seen,

And so erect a statue to her glory.

واذكروا آية الحكيم فقد تصلح

لو تعقلونها الأحوالا

And recall the Wise One’s verse, for it may improve

The state of affairs, if you understand it.

وعصى آدم وما قال حوا

ء فسبحان قوله وتعالى

“And Adam disobeyed”—He did not say “Eve.”

So glory be to His word, and exalted be He!

واخضعوا مرة لحكم الليالي

فالليالي من الزمان حبالى

And submit, for once, to the judgment of the nights,

For the nights are pregnant by time.
