ماضٍpressing onward ، وأعرفand I know ماwhat دربيmy path وماand what هدفيmy goal
والموتand death يرقصdances ليfor me فيat كلevery منعطفturn
Onward I go, knowing my path and my goal.
And death dances for me at every turn.

I do not heed it enough to guard against it,
For fear of death, to me, is the dullest of jests.

Nor do I care for thorns or ordeals
Upon my path; my resolve is within me, and my passion is mine.

I am the keen sword: at one end of me is the sun's gleam,
And at the other, the edge of an Indian sword.

And many a torrent of melodies has flowed from my words,
And many a torrent of hellfire has flowed from my pages.

I yearn for the Garden of Paradise, burning
With the fire of my longing for the faithful and the lofty chambers.

O Time! Which days do I covet
For their good fortune? And what in them covets me?

منamong الأحبةthe loved ones ، منfrom حوليaround me ، فواso, oh! لهفيmy anguish !
Those whom the heart's innermost core adores have gone,
The loved ones who were around me—oh, my anguish!

And I have become a field of tinder, of loneliness and grief;
Sparks of yearning and sorrow sweep over me.

Oh, the burning of my longing for them whenever my soul stirs,
And my soul is mad with love for them.

Indeed, I am weary of love for this world and its bloom,
And my heart has tired of the heights of its untouched gardens.

And I have experienced its nights and its days,
As a young man, and gathered its pearls from the shells.
فلمso did not أجدI find غيرother than دربthe path اللهof God دربa path هدىًof guidance
وغيرand other than ينبوعهاits wellspring نبعـاًa spring لمغــــترفِfor one drawing water
So I found no path of guidance but God's path,
Nor any spring to draw from but its wellspring.

So I flew, hastening toward it, seeking my death upon it,
And often, immortality has lain in death.

واللهand God يهتفcalls out بيto me : أقدمadvance! ولاand do not تخفِfear!
And people cry, 'Hold back!' as battle breaks out,
While God calls to me: 'Advance, and do not fear!'

Onward I go: even were I alone, and the worlds shouted at me,
'Stop!'—I would press on, neither slowing nor stopping.
