فأيّامُنَا عَنَّا تُجَلِّي ، وتُعرِبُ
And if a man's days are not reckoned to his credit,
our days reveal us and speak plainly for us.

to where Muthaqqab rises above its twin cairns.

And al-Hawfazan escaped us, as though he were
at Rahwah, a broken-horned wild bull that had escaped the horses.

On the morning at Rugham, when he escaped with a spear-wound—
a death-driving thrust that may glance aside or kill.

And the sword's edge had cut into the front of his face,
as far as where his nose lay level with the veiled part.

And Jashshamah al-Dhuhli was carried at a trot
to our people by a nose-bridled she-camel, while he was bound behind the saddle.

by a Yemeni blade that rends whenever it meets bone.

So, after his head had slumped, he was held fast
by a girth on al-Agharr's back and a wooden saddle.

On the morning when Lujaym's two sons and Yashkur seemed
like ostriches fleeing in panic in the desert of al-Kadidayn.
