يا صالِحَ الجودِ الَّذي مَجدُهُ

يا صالِحَ الجودِ الَّذي مَجدُهُ

أَفسَدَ مَجدَ الناسِ بِالجودِ

أَفسَدَ مَجدَ الناسِ بِالجودِ

O generous Salih, whose glory

O generous man whose bounty outshone

O Salih of Bounty, you whose glory

has eclipsed the glory of others through generosity.

The bounty of all others combined

Has eclipsed the glory of all men through generosity,

بَنَيتَ قَصراً مُشرِفاً عالِياً

بَنَيتَ قَصراً مُشرِفاً عالِياً

بِطائِرَي سَعدٍ وَمَسعودِ

بِطائِرَي سَعدٍ وَمَسعودِ

You have built a palace, towering and lofty,

You built a towering, lofty palace

You have built a palace, commanding and high,

with the two birds of Saʿd and Masʿud.

With the birds of Sa'd and Mas'ud

Under the twin omens of felicity and favor,

كَأَنَّما يَرفَعُ بُنيانَهُ

كَأَنَّما يَرفَعُ بُنيانَهُ

جِنُّ سُلَيمانَ بنِ داودِ

جِنُّ سُلَيمانَ بنِ داودِ

As though its structure were being raised

As if it were raised by the jinn of Solomon

As though its structure were being raised

by the jinn of Solomon, son of David.

Son of David in obedience resigned

By the Jinn of Solomon, son of David,

لا زِلتَ مَسروراً بِهِ سالِماً

لا زِلتَ مَسروراً بِهِ سالِماً

عَلى اِختِلافِ البيضِ وَالسودِ

عَلى اِختِلافِ البيضِ وَالسودِ

May you always remain happy in it and safe,

Ever joyous and safe within it you dwelled

May you never cease to be joyful within it, and safe,

through the alternation of white days and black nights.

Despite the differences of black and white

Throughout the alternation of the days and the nights.
