    You honored your admirers in Egypt by your return.

    And you attained more than what had satisfied you.

    فَاِنهَض إِلَيها فَإِن السَعدَ داعيك

    And fellowship grew sweet for us in a fortunate reign;

    So rise to it, for good fortune calls you.

    وَلَيلةُ القَدر شَطرٌ مِن لَياليك

    And a day when we see you is all our festivals;

    And the Night of Decree is but a portion of your nights.

    Muhammad, you are its guardian, and I,

    O full moon, praise your endeavors in this world.

    فَالقَلب ما ذابَ إِلّا مِن تَنائيك

    So do not ask about my longing at the hour of departure;

    For my heart melted only because you were far away.

    You journeyed from us to the abode of kings; so none

    Of us do you see in the realm but your loyal followers.

    And you returned from it rejoicing; may you never cease

    To have your wishes grow among us for as long as the world endures.

    وَماتَ غَيظاً بِما أُوتيت شانيك

    And may you remain among us, rooted in glory and living in abundance;

    And may the one who hates you die of rage at what you have been granted.

    And may the tongues of peace never cease recording the date:

    “O Hafiz, the most joyous fortune congratulates you.”
