لَكَ الزَمان بِما تَرضاه قَد سَمَحا

لَكَ الزَمان بِما تَرضاه قَد سَمَحا

وَبلبل الأُنس في أَدواحه صَدَحا

وَبلبل الأُنس في أَدواحه صَدَحا

Time has generously granted you what pleases you,

Time has yielded to your wishes,

And the nightingale of delight sang in its spreading trees.

And the joyful nightingale in its boughs sang out.

وَهَذِهِ مَصرك الغَرّا بك اِبتَهَجَت

وَهَذِهِ مَصرك الغَرّا بك اِبتَهَجَت

وَكُلُّ شَيء بِها مَشروعه نَجَحا

وَكُلُّ شَيء بِها مَشروعه نَجَحا

And this, your radiant Egypt, rejoiced in you,

This is your victorious Egypt, rejoicing in you,

And everything within her has prospered in its undertaking.

And everything in it, its plans succeeded.

وَالدَهر سالم في أَيامنا وَصفا

وَالدَهر سالم في أَيامنا وَصفا

وَجفن مُقلَتِهِ بَعدَ الهُجوع صَحا

وَجفن مُقلَتِهِ بَعدَ الهُجوع صَحا

And time has made peace in our days and grown serene,

And time is tranquil in our days, serene,

And the lid of its eye awoke after slumber.

Its tired eyelids, after shedding tears, are healed.

وَخَيّم النَصر في أَوطاننا وَلَنا

وَخَيّم النَصر في أَوطاننا وَلَنا

باب المَسَرّة بِالتَوفيق قَد فَتَحا

باب المَسَرّة بِالتَوفيق قَد فَتَحا

And victory encamped in our homelands, and for us

And victory has pitched its tents in our lands, and for us

Opened the gate of joy with good fortune.

The gates of joy with success opened wide.

وَماس غُصن التَهاني في الرِياض بِها

وَماس غُصن التَهاني في الرِياض بِها

فَاِزداد كُل امرئ مِن أَهلِها فَرَحا

فَاِزداد كُل امرئ مِن أَهلِها فَرَحا

And the bough of felicitations swayed in her gardens,

The branch of congratulations blossomed in its gardens

So every one of her people grew in joy.

And every one of its people became more joyful.

وَبِالتَمدن قَد طافَ المُقيم عَلى

وَبِالتَمدن قَد طافَ المُقيم عَلى

أَعتابِها وإليه في حِماك نَحا

أَعتابِها وإليه في حِماك نَحا

And through civilization has roamed the dweller at

With civilization the settler roams

Her thresholds, and toward it he turned under your protection.

Its thresholds, and in your protection turns.

فَفازَ تَحتَ ظِلال العَدل مِنكَ بِما

فَفازَ تَحتَ ظِلال العَدل مِنكَ بِما

قَد كانَ يَبغى وَفيها صَدره اِنشَرَحا

قَد كانَ يَبغى وَفيها صَدره اِنشَرَحا

So beneath the shade of your justice, he attained what

So he won in the shade of your justice what

He had sought, and within her his breast opened with joy.

He desired, and his breast expanded and relief flooded in.

وَاِزدان مِما حَواه مِن مَعارفها

وَاِزدان مِما حَواه مِن مَعارفها

بِما تقرّ به عَينُ الَّذي نَصَحا

بِما تقرّ به عَينُ الَّذي نَصَحا

And through the learning he acquired from her, he was adorned

And he adorned himself with the knowledge it contained,

With what gladdens the eye of one who counseled sincerely.

With what would please the eye of a sincere counselor.

هُنالِكَ اِهتمَّ بِالشكر الجَزيل وَفي

هُنالِكَ اِهتمَّ بِالشكر الجَزيل وَفي

ثَناك جادَ بِما قَد أَعجز الفُصَحا

ثَناك جادَ بِما قَد أَعجز الفُصَحا

There he devoted himself to abundant thanks, and in

Your praise poured forth what outdid the eloquent.

Praising you he was eloquent beyond the rhetorical.

فَإِن يَكُن قاصِراً في حَسر أَيسر ما

فَإِن يَكُن قاصِراً في حَسر أَيسر ما

بِهِ سِواك عَلى طُول المَدى مَدَحا

بِهِ سِواك عَلى طُول المَدى مَدَحا

So if he falls short in unveiling even the least of what

If he falls short in enumerating the least

He has praised in others besides you through the ages,

Of what would laud you over the ages,

فَعذره واضح حَيث اِشتَمَلَت عَلى

فَعذره واضح حَيث اِشتَمَلَت عَلى

مَناقب دُونَها في الضُوءِ شَمس ضُحى

مَناقب دُونَها في الضُوءِ شَمس ضُحى

Then his excuse is clear, for you encompass

His excuse is clear, since it encompasses

Virtues whose radiance outshines the midmorning sun.

Virtues none can equal under the light of dawn.

لا زلت في دَولة الإِقبال محتفلاً

لا زلت في دَولة الإِقبال محتفلاً

بِنَشر ما فيهِ بَعض النَفع قَد لَمحا

بِنَشر ما فيهِ بَعض النَفع قَد لَمحا

May you never cease, in the reign of good fortune, to devote yourself

I still celebrate in the state of favor,

To spreading whatever has shown a glimmer of benefit.

Spreading some benefit I may have glimpsed.

ما جاءَ عام جَديد فُزت فيهِ كَما

ما جاءَ عام جَديد فُزت فيهِ كَما

تَشاء بِالقَصد في عَصر بك اِنصَلَحا

تَشاء بِالقَصد في عَصر بك اِنصَلَحا

Whenever a new year comes, may you succeed in it as

Whether a new year comes in which you triumph, as

You wish, attaining your aim in an age set right through you;

You wish, in an age through you set right,

أَو ما تَلَت أَلسُنُ البُشرى مُؤرخةً

أَو ما تَلَت أَلسُنُ البُشرى مُؤرخةً

عام برفعة إِسماعيل قَد سَمَحا

عام برفعة إِسماعيل قَد سَمَحا

Or whenever the tongues of glad tidings recite, marking the date:

Or tongues repeat the chronicles

A year has generously bestowed exaltation on Ismail.

Of a year of the elevation of Ismail once again.
