بَشائر تَوفيقٍ بِها العيد دائمُ

بَشائر تَوفيقٍ بِها العيد دائمُ

وَبَينَ يَديهِ السَعدُ في مَصر قائمُ

وَبَينَ يَديهِ السَعدُ في مَصر قائمُ

Tawfiq’s glad tidings make the feast everlasting.

Tidings of success with which Eid is everlasting

And before him good fortune stands established in Egypt.

And good fortune standing before it in Egypt erect

وَبَيت مَعاليه الرصين أَساسه

وَبَيت مَعاليه الرصين أَساسه

لَهُ اِرتفعت في الخافقين دَعائم

لَهُ اِرتفعت في الخافقين دَعائم

And the house of his lofty virtues, its foundation firm,

And his esteemed steadfast house -

Has pillars that have risen in East and West.

Pillars for it rose high in the horizons

وَطالعه السامي يشير بِأَنه

وَطالعه السامي يشير بِأَنه

سَتنجح في الأَعمال مِنهُ العَزائم

سَتنجح في الأَعمال مِنهُ العَزائم

And his lofty rising star foretells that

And his sublime horoscope indicates

His resolves will meet with success in action.

That his determination shall succeed in deeds

وَينشر في الأَوطان أَنوار حكمه

وَينشر في الأَوطان أَنوار حكمه

بيقظته وَالغير في الغيّ نائم

بيقظته وَالغير في الغيّ نائم

And he spreads the lights of his rule throughout the lands,

And spread in homelands the light of his rule

Through his vigilance, while others sleep in error.

With his vigilance while others in confusion sleep

وَيغمر بالإِحسان أَفضل أُمةٍ

وَيغمر بالإِحسان أَفضل أُمةٍ

بِهِ قَلبُها لِلّه بِالطَبع هائم

بِهِ قَلبُها لِلّه بِالطَبع هائم

And he showers bounty upon the finest nation,

And he shall flood the best of nations with benevolence

Whose heart is naturally enamored of him for God’s sake.

For which, by nature, its heart is ardently zealous

وَيَسعى إِلى ما فيهِ غاية نَفعها

وَيَسعى إِلى ما فيهِ غاية نَفعها

بحزمٍ لَهُ بِالشُكر يلهج رائم

بحزمٍ لَهُ بِالشُكر يلهج رائم

And he strives for whatever brings it the greatest benefit,

And he hastens towards what is utterly beneficial for it

With resolve for which a seeker continually gives thanks.

With resolve - grateful chanters praise him

وَيشرح مِنها صَدرَها بِمَعارفٍ

وَيشرح مِنها صَدرَها بِمَعارفٍ

لَهُ اِنعقدت تيجانها وَالعَمائم

لَهُ اِنعقدت تيجانها وَالعَمائم

And he opens its breast with branches of learning,

And he alleviates its chest with cognizance

Whose crowns and turbans have been bound for him.

For it, garlands and turbans are conferred

وَيَعفو عَن الجاني بحلم تظاهرت

وَيَعفو عَن الجاني بحلم تظاهرت

عَلَيهِ لَنا في كُل شَيء عَلائم

عَلَيهِ لَنا في كُل شَيء عَلائم

And he pardons the offender with a forbearance

And he pardons the offender with forbearance that

Whose signs are manifest to us in everything.

Signs have accumulated before us in all things

وَيحذو كإسماعيل حذو محمدٍ

وَيحذو كإسماعيل حذو محمدٍ

عليٍّ وَإِبراهيم فيما يلائم

عليٍّ وَإِبراهيم فيما يلائم

And, like Ismail, he follows the example of Muhammad

And he emulates, like Ismael, the emulation of Mohammed

Ali and Ibrahim in what is fitting.

And Ali and Abraham in what befits

وَيركض في مضمار كل فضيلة

وَيركض في مضمار كل فضيلة

بِسابق فكرٍ ما تعدّاه حائم

بِسابق فكرٍ ما تعدّاه حائم

And he races on the course of every virtue,

And he gallops in the race track of every virtue

With fleet thought that no circling seeker has surpassed.

With thought that no roamer ever transcended

وَيصدع بِالحَق المبين من اِعتَدى

وَيصدع بِالحَق المبين من اِعتَدى

وَلا ينثني حَتّى تَلين الشَكائم

وَلا ينثني حَتّى تَلين الشَكائم

And he confronts whoever transgresses with manifest truth,

And he vociferates the clear truth - who transgresses

And does not relent until the bridle-bits yield.

And does not flinch until even cliffs soften

وَيظفر بِالحَمد الجَزيل الَّذي بِهِ

وَيظفر بِالحَمد الجَزيل الَّذي بِهِ

يُقابله مِنا مصلٍّ وَصائم

يُقابله مِنا مصلٍّ وَصائم

And he wins the abundant praise with which

And he succeeds, with praise ample enough

Those among us who pray and fast greet him.

To be met from us with prayers and fasts

وَتُهدَى إِلى علياه مِنا مَدائحٌ

وَتُهدَى إِلى علياه مِنا مَدائحٌ

بِها تَتَغنّى في التَهاني حَمائم

بِها تَتَغنّى في التَهاني حَمائم

And praises from us are offered to his exalted station,

And odes are bestowed to his utmost heights

Which doves sing in songs of congratulation.

In which ring doves trill songs of felicity

وَينشده في العيد مجدي مؤرِّخاً

وَينشده في العيد مجدي مؤرِّخاً

بَشائر تَوفيق بِها العيد دائم

بَشائر تَوفيق بِها العيد دائم

And at the feast Majdi recites to him, giving a chronogram:

And Majdi eulogizes him on Eid recording

Tawfiq’s glad tidings make the feast everlasting.
