Through you, all cities and villages rejoiced.

And their valley grew fertile, and their lot was eased.

And when you resolved to journey by sea, to reveal

To the eyes of humankind what soothes their minds,

The sea beholds your bounty—did it not know

That generosity in all its forms flows from you?

And Izmir, when you arrived in her quarters,

And flooded her with wealth and bounty that astounded her,

A downpour came, reviving the barren ground in her land,

And that was to honor your endeavor, not her.

The tongue of gratitude says of this, recording the date:

Sa'id came to Izmir; bounty came to her.
