    The world adorned itself for a Kaaba of virtue,

    And a sun of chastity whose veil is never lifted.

    عَلى الناس يتلى في السُرور كتابها

    So the Khedive grew more cheerful amid congratulations;

    Her letter is read aloud to the people amid rejoicing.

    And when the exalted one came bearing glad tidings of reunion,

    And reporting that the time for the sun’s return had come,

    And that the fleets of happiness had arrived,

    And her caravan had halted in the familiar homeland,

    Majdi sang in rhymes, offering congratulations

    On her return—may her august person be exalted in Egypt.
