صَفا الماء فَليشرَب هَنيئاً بصحة

وَعافية في جسمه كُلُّ واردِ

The water is clear; let him drink with pleasure, in health

Drink the pure water and be blessed with health

And well-being in his body—every visitor.

And wellbeing in your body, O wayfarer.

فَهَذا سَبيل شيدته أَميرة

فَهَذا سَبيل شيدته أَميرة

بِبحر نَوال ماؤُهُ غَير راكد

بِبحر نَوال ماؤُهُ غَير راكد

For this is a drinking-fountain erected by a princess,

For this is a path built by a princess

With an ocean of bounty whose water does not stagnate.

With a sea of generosity, its water ever-flowing.

وَلِلّه بِالإخلاص في مصر نظّمت

وَلِلّه بِالإخلاص في مصر نظّمت

بِإِحسانِها ما يَزدَري بِالقَلائد

بِإِحسانِها ما يَزدَري بِالقَلائد

And for God, with sincerity, in Egypt she has strung

With sincerity for God in Egypt she composed

Through her beneficence, what puts necklaces to shame.

With her charity what adorns more than necklaces.

وَلِلناس سال الآن مِن غَيث برِّها

وَلِلناس سال الآن مِن غَيث برِّها

زلالٌ فَأَحيا نَفس غاد ووافد

زلالٌ فَأَحيا نَفس غاد ووافد

And now, for the people, from the rain of her kindness has flowed

For people now flows from her rain of kindness

Clear, sweet water, thus reviving the soul of the early traveler and the visitor.

A fresh drink reviving the sedentary and the traveler.

وَسادَت عَلى أَترابِها في زَمانِها

وَسادَت عَلى أَترابِها في زَمانِها

بِوافر نَفع لِلبرية زائد

بِوافر نَفع لِلبرية زائد

And she surpassed her peers in her time

She prevailed over her contemporaries in her time

Through abundant, surpassing benefit to humankind.

With abundant benefit for the land added.

وَفازَت بِما رامَت وَنالَت مِن الوَرى

وَفازَت بِما رامَت وَنالَت مِن الوَرى

بِدَولة إسماعيل كُل المَحامد

بِدَولة إسماعيل كُل المَحامد

And she achieved what she sought, and won from humankind,

She attained what she desired and obtained from the world,

Under Ismail's rule, every commendation.

With the state of Ismail, all praise.

وَجيد مَعاليها تَحلّى بِعفة

وَجيد مَعاليها تَحلّى بِعفة

وَزُهد وَتَوفيق لِخَير المَقاصد

وَزُهد وَتَوفيق لِخَير المَقاصد

And the neck of her lofty virtues was adorned with chastity

And the excellence of her loftiness was adorned with chastity,

And asceticism, and success in the best of aims.

Asceticism, and success towards the best of goals.

وَقَد قالَ مَجدي في بِناها مُؤرِّخاً

وَقَد قالَ مَجدي في بِناها مُؤرِّخاً

سَبيل زَبا عَذب سَنىّ المَوارد

سَبيل زَبا عَذب سَنىّ المَوارد

And Majdi said of her building, recording its date:

Zaba's fountain is sweet, splendid in its sources.

"The aqueduct of Zaba, sweet water of springs."
