Sol 6.1

  1. سَناء رفعة إِسماعيل في العيدِ

    للملك في مصر أَضحى حلية الجيدِ

    The radiance of Ismail’s eminence at the feast

    Has become an ornament on the neck of kingship in Egypt.

  2. وَعَندليب التَهاني فَوق دَوحته

    أَثنى عَلَيهِ بِأَلحانٍ وَتَغريدِ

    And the nightingale of congratulations, above his spreading tree,

    Praised him with melodies and warbling.

  3. فَيا لَهُ مِن مَليك مدّ مِنهُ يَداً

    لِلعَدل في لَثمِها فَوزٌ بِتَأييد

    What a sovereign! He stretched forth his hand

    To justice; kissing it is to win support.

  4. وَشَيد الدَولة الغَرّا وَحصّنها

    بِصَولة زانَها مِنهُ بِتَسديد

    And he built up the splendid state and fortified it

    With might that he graced with his own sound guidance.

  5. فَاِستيقظت مَصر مِن نَوم أَضرَّ بها

    هَنيهةً وَاِستَقامَت بَعد تَأويد

    So Egypt awoke from a sleep that had harmed her

    For a little while, and stood upright after being bent.

  6. وَبِالأَماني لَقَد فازَت رَعيتُه

    وَاِستَأنَسَت بَعدَ إِيحاشٍ وَتَهديد

    And his subjects have indeed attained their wishes

    And felt at ease after fright and threats.

  7. لِذاك مدَّت بإِخلاص عَلى عجل

    إِلى الدُعاء لَهُ الأَيدي بِتَخليد

    Thus, sincerely and in haste, they stretched out

    Their hands in prayer for his everlasting life.

  8. وَبشّرته مَع الأَشبال مدحتُهُ

    عَما قَليل بِتَمليك وَتَمجيد

    And his panegyric brought him and the lion cubs glad tidings

    Of being granted kingship and glorified before long.

  9. وَجاءَ عيد الأَضاحي في السُرور لَهُ

    يُومي إِلى مُلكه السامي بِتَمهيد

    And the Feast of Sacrifices arrived to his delight,

    Hinting at the way being paved for his exalted reign.

  10. وَأَقبَلَت نَحوَهُ العليا مُؤرخة

    سَناء رفعة إِسماعيل في العيد

    And exalted glory approached him, giving this chronogram:

    “The radiance of Ismail’s eminence at the feast.”
