The joy of Dawood Pasha, and he is the fortunate one,
through him, the subjects and slaves live.
With him the commoners and servants thrive,

He has none but some followers.

What an excellent leader—the best of all people!
So excellent is he, the best of people by far,
He has indeed revived Egypt by spreading justice.
He revived Egypt by spreading justice,

And so he earned a reward for that beneficence,
And so gained reward through that benevolence,
and rose above the leaders of old.
And prevailed over the foremost masters.

Let us gallop in the arenas of congratulation,
Let's race in fields of congratulations,
within a fortress that has become impregnable in Egypt.
To a fortress made in Egypt impregnable.

And lances which bring benefits,

While harm avoids the humble.

Sa'id al-Dawari, Egypt's mighty lord,
Dawood Pasha, mighty one of Egypt,
of deep-rooted glory, a treasure for those who come.
Peerless glory, treasure of newcomers.

Indeed, by his father and the seven oft-repeated verses,
By his father and the seven oft-repeated,
and by the Lord of the House and the Yemeni Corner,
And Lord of the House and the Yemeni corner,
لَقَدindeed نلناwe attained بِهِthrough him كُلَّall الأَمانيwishes

we have indeed attained every wish through him.
With him we attained all wishes,
And Time made peace with us and did not forget us.
And greeted time, nothing forgot.

And through him, the sound of the lute strings revived us.
With him we revived the voice of singers,
So need we fear the vicissitudes of time?
Shall we then fear the turns of time?

How, when none matches him in justice,
May the Lord of the worlds preserve him for us;
Our Lord will keep him, Lord of the worlds.

And may the days never cease to reveal to him,
And days have not ceased displaying,
in times of joy, a manifest victory.
Times of joy, successive openings.

Trample with awe’s excess the burrows.

And may we never cease to pass round cups of gladness
Still we pass the cup of joy,
under his rule, until the Gathering and Resurrection,
With his rule, until resurrection and scattering,

And we are garbed evermore in pride’s robe,
safe in his spacious courtyard.
In his spacious, secure court.
