البَدر أَشرَق مِن أَمير كاملِ

البَدر أَشرَق مِن أَمير كاملِ

في أُفق مَصرَ بِيَوم عيدٍ فاضلِ

في أُفق مَصرَ بِيَوم عيدٍ فاضلِ

The full moon shone forth from a perfect prince,

The full moon rose from the noble Emir

On Egypt’s horizon, on a noble feast day.

On Egypt's horizon on the blessed feast day

وَالسَعد لما لاحَ قالَ مؤرِّخاً

وَالسَعد لما لاحَ قالَ مؤرِّخاً

بُشراه أَحمَد قَد أَتى مِن عادل

بُشراه أَحمَد قَد أَتى مِن عادل

And when good fortune appeared, it spoke, recording the date:

And good fortune appeared saying to the chronicler

“Glad tidings for him! Ahmad has indeed come from Adil.”
