سَعيد المَعالي للقُلوب دَواؤُها

سَعيد المَعالي للقُلوب دَواؤُها

وَما هُوَ للأَبصار إلا ضياؤُها

وَما هُوَ للأَبصار إلا ضياؤُها

Saʿid, exalted in rank, is the hearts’ remedy.

His Excellency's well-being is a remedy for hearts

And to the eyes he is nothing but their light.

And for sights it is nothing but their radiance

وَصحته للملك والدين منحة

وَصحته للملك والدين منحة

بِها الدَولة الغَرّاء مدّ لواؤها

بِها الدَولة الغَرّاء مدّ لواؤها

And his health is a gift to the realm and the faith;

And his health is a gift for the kingdom and religion

Through it, the illustrious state’s banner was unfurled.

With it the glorious state extends its banner

وَفي هذه الأَوطان أَشرَق بِالشفا

وَفي هذه الأَوطان أَشرَق بِالشفا

لِهَذا الخديوي أَرضُها وَسَماؤُها

لِهَذا الخديوي أَرضُها وَسَماؤُها

And in these lands shone, at the recovery

And in these lands he shone with recovery

Of this Khedive, their earth and sky.

For this Khedive his earth and its heavens

وَعوفى النَدى وَالمَجدُ وَالجدُّ واِستَوى

وَعوفى النَدى وَالمَجدُ وَالجدُّ واِستَوى

عَلى أسِّ حسنِ الاعتدال بِناؤها

عَلى أسِّ حسنِ الاعتدال بِناؤها

And generosity, glory, and good fortune were healed, and upright stood

The dew, glory, zeal and excellence became balanced

Upon a foundation of sound balance, their edifice.

On the foundation of excellent moderation is its building

وَعَلياؤه زال اِنحِرافُ مزاجها

وَعَلياؤه زال اِنحِرافُ مزاجها

وَعادَت كَما كانَت وَزادَ بَهاؤُها

وَعادَت كَما كانَت وَزادَ بَهاؤُها

And the imbalance of his lofty station’s temperament vanished;

And its loftiness removed the imbalance of its mood

And it returned as it had been, and its splendor grew.

And it returned as it was and its splendor increased

وَلاحَت شُموس البرء في الحال فاِنجَلَت

وَلاحَت شُموس البرء في الحال فاِنجَلَت

غَياهبُ سقمٍ قَد تقشع داؤها

غَياهبُ سقمٍ قَد تقشع داؤها

And the suns of recovery shone forth at once; then vanished

The suns of innocence shone clearly in the situation, so

The dark depths of sickness, their malady dispelled.

The gloom of illness that darkened it cleared

وَطابَت لَنا الأَوقات في مَصره الَّتي

وَطابَت لَنا الأَوقات في مَصره الَّتي

بصحبته صحت وَراق صَفاؤُها

بصحبته صحت وَراق صَفاؤُها

And our days grew pleasant in his Egypt, which

And times became good for us in his Egypt which

Recovered in his company, and whose serenity grew delightful.

Through his company became healthy and its purity pleased

وَبَشَّره فيها بطول بَقائه

وَبَشَّره فيها بطول بَقائه

مآثرُ لا يحصى عَلَيهِ ثَناؤُها

مآثرُ لا يحصى عَلَيهِ ثَناؤُها

And there brought him glad tidings of a long life

And the achievements that cannot be fully praised

Noble deeds whose praise of him is beyond counting.

Gave him good tidings of his lasting in it

فَقُلت أَهنيه بِذاك مؤرّخا

فَقُلت أَهنيه بِذاك مؤرّخا

شِفاء سَعيد للصدور شِفاؤها

شِفاء سَعيد للصدور شِفاؤها

So I said, congratulating him on this and marking the date:
