Praise has grown sweet, and the poet's verse delicate,

In the reign of the illustrious, reigning king:

Egypt's Tawfiq, her soul and her champion,

Ever against anyone who is not peaceable.

May his eminence endure, and his authority endure

In her realm for as long as this world lasts.

For he has clothed her in a robe of security, whose

Pillars' foundations stand firm within her.

For, with his sound judgment, he chose from her people

Every gallant, resolute man to govern within her.

And chose Fakhri, himself one of her sons,

For the ministry of justice, which destroys oppressors.

And bestowed on him ranks that, in themselves,

Grow in glory through the learned minister.

O son of him who commanded the troops and led them

    With valor that laid every rival low;

O you who, in the cradle of a most auspicious birth, yearned

    For the sciences of governance and curbing adversaries;

And achieved what earlier men could not

In the fine ordering and organization of courts.

And through him, a path of integrity was followed

By those who once did not rule to redress wrongs.

Glad tidings to you of the ranks whose badge

Appears on the breast of statesmanship and mercy.

May you ever walk proudly in robes of happiness,

As long as a full moon shines in the sky of noble deeds,

Or praise of your eminence is sweet in a reign

Whose Tawfiq revives the traces of landmarks,

Or Majdi says in congratulation, giving a chronogram:

Fakhri has risen in justice to everlasting glory.
