O peerless one of the ages in glory and honor,

and unrivaled one of the age in good fortune and luxury.

And O counselor, in whom the treasury rejoiced

in Egypt, and who was distinguished for fairness in the papers.

I do not beseech you to fulfill what was promised

    by Your Excellency—rank and gifts.

For you are rain, and rain's custom is

to quench thirst without a promise, throughout time, and keep faith.

And your eye of justice never slumbered

heedless of me, though I was like a target for the fates.
