يا أَوحَد الدَهر مجد وَفي شَرَف

يا أَوحَد الدَهر مجد وَفي شَرَف

وَمُفرَد العَصر في سَعد وَفي تَرَف

وَمُفرَد العَصر في سَعد وَفي تَرَف

O peerless one of all time in glory and honor,

and the age’s unrivaled one in good fortune and luxury,

لَكَ السُرور بِنجل تَحتَ طرّته

لَكَ السُرور بِنجل تَحتَ طرّته

بَدرٌ وَلَكنه يَسمو عَن الكلف

بَدرٌ وَلَكنه يَسمو عَن الكلف

joy be yours in a son beneath whose forelock

is a full moon, yet he rises above its dark markings.

جادَت بِهِ لَكَ شَمسٌ كادَ يسترها

جادَت بِهِ لَكَ شَمسٌ كادَ يسترها

لَولاك غَيم قَلى مِن كُل ذي سخف

لَولاك غَيم قَلى مِن كُل ذي سخف

A sun bestowed him upon you; she would have been all but veiled,

but for you, by a cloud of hatred from every fool.

وَالدَهر عاند أَعداها وَسالمها

وَالدَهر عاند أَعداها وَسالمها

فَلم يَنالوا سِوى الحرمان وَالأَسَف

فَلم يَنالوا سِوى الحرمان وَالأَسَف

And fate opposed her enemies and made peace with her,

so they gained nothing but deprivation and regret.

وَالسَعد جاءَكَ بِالبُشرى وَأَرخه

وَالسَعد جاءَكَ بِالبُشرى وَأَرخه

محمد خَير نجم بِالسُعود يَفي

محمد خَير نجم بِالسُعود يَفي

And good fortune brought you glad tidings and marked the date:

Muhammad, the finest star, brings good fortune in full.
