    O chief, indeed the feast has recited in your praise

    verses of praise, which fine acclaim has followed.

    And with congratulations it came hastening to you on

    the heels of fasting, and sipping from its lips grew sweet.

    And its neck was adorned with something of your radiance that

    outshone the full moon in brilliance and rose above it.

    And through you, O chief of the age, its breast became

    gladdened in the world, enfolded in delight.

    For every moment in which we behold your eminence is for us

    a feast through which Egypt's king attains his hope.

    May you remain resplendent there with the lion cubs,

    in a realm that has held sway over cities and states,

    مِن الحَضيض بِها للأوج قَد نُقِلا

    as long as my verse gains honor through a congratulation,

    lifted by it from the depths to the summit;

    يَدَ الدُعا بنجاز الأَمر مُبتهلا

    and as long as I sincerely raise, in haste,

    the hand of prayer for the matter's fulfillment, humbly imploring;

    or joy recorded its date on the day of Eid al-Fitr:

    "In Egypt, through Ismail, the feast has a sun of glory."
