How sweet the wine—and his dark lips its admixture!
How delightful the wine, with his lips’ nectar as its admixture!
Its radiance has coursed through my heart; and it is my custom:
Its light courses and creeps through the heart.

Fill the cup; heed no censor.
Fill the cup to the brim; heed no reproacher.
For vanquishing the censor is my affair and my wont.
Indeed, overcoming the reproacher is my business and my habit.

A virgin wine, aged since long ago,
A virgin wine, aged since days long past,
has banished my anguish and diminished my pains.
Has banished my anguish, and my ailments have lessened.

Who would blame me if, despite myself, I cast restraint aside
Whoever blames me when I cast off restraint against my will,
for my beloved? Whoever does denies the torments I bear.
Because of my beloved, is denying my ailments.
