لشيخي في ختان أَبي التَهاني

لشيخي في ختان أَبي التَهاني

أَمين نجله حظٌّ عَظيمُ

أَمين نجله حظٌّ عَظيمُ

For my shaykh, at the circumcision of Abū al-Tahānī,

For my sheikh, at the circumcision of Abu al-Tahani—

Amīn—his son, a magnificent blessing.

Amin, his son—there is great good fortune.

وَفي أَفراحه عَمّا قَليل

وَفي أَفراحه عَمّا قَليل

سُرور لا يُغادره نَعيم

سُرور لا يُغادره نَعيم

And amid his festivities, before long,

And soon, in his celebrations,

there will be joy whose bliss never departs.

There will be joy that bliss never leaves.

لَكَ البُشرى بِهِ ما لاحَ بَدرٌ

لَكَ البُشرى بِهِ ما لاحَ بَدرٌ

بمصر لَهُ وَما لمعت نُجوم

بمصر لَهُ وَما لمعت نُجوم

Glad tidings are yours through him, as long as a full moon shines

Glad tidings to you of him, so long as a full moon shines

for him in Egypt, and as long as stars glitter.

For him in Egypt, and so long as stars glitter,

وَما قالَ الصَفا للمجد أَرّخ

وَما قالَ الصَفا للمجد أَرّخ

ختان محمد عزٌّ يَدوم

ختان محمد عزٌّ يَدوم

And from what Purity said to Glory, record the date:

And so long as Purity says to Glory, 'Record the date:

“Muḥammad’s circumcision—glory endures.”

Muhammad's circumcision is an honor that endures.'
