فلكٌ بِأَرض الأَزبكية قَد بَدا

يَزهو بِبنيان رَفيع مَنارِ

A celestial sphere has appeared in the land of al-Azbakiyya.

A dome in the land of Al-Azbakiya has appeared

It glories in a structure with a lofty tower.

Rising with a lofty minaret

وَغَدا يُفاخر غَيره بِرَصانة

وَغَدا يُفاخر غَيره بِرَصانة

وَبَديع إِتقان وَحُسن جِدار

وَبَديع إِتقان وَحُسن جِدار

And it came to vie with others in solidity,

And it began to boast to others with its stateliness

And exquisite craftsmanship and the beauty of its wall.

And the excellence of its construction and beauty of its wall

وَالمَجد لَما تَم قال مؤرخاً

وَالمَجد لَما تَم قال مؤرخاً

لمتاتيا بِالسَعد أَزكى دار

لمتاتيا بِالسَعد أَزكى دار

And Glory, when it was complete, spoke to record the date:

And when it was completed, the chronicler said

“For Matatia, with good fortune, the finest abode.”

For Mettias in good fortune the most blessed abode
