1. أنتِ طيب من الزَّهر

    لست من طينة البشر

    You are fragrance from the flowers;

    you are not of humankind’s clay.

  2. أنت من دفقة الضيا

    ء على موجة السحر

    You are of a surge of light

    upon a wave of dawn.

  3. نغم أنت واحد

    مفرد النهج والوتر

    You are a single melody,

    unique in its course and string.

  4. أنت لون لم ينسج الظ

    ظن أحلى ولا أسر

    You are a hue; imagination has woven none

    sweeter or more delightful.

  5. إن مثواك بيننا

    غربة ساقها القدر

    Indeed, your dwelling among us

    is an exile brought about by fate.

  6. فإذا ترجعين يوم

    اً إلى عهدك الأغر

    And when one day you return

    to your radiant past,

  7. ترجع الأرض بال

    أسى والصبابات والذِّكَر

    the earth will be left with

    sorrow, longings, and memories:

  8. لم تصب منك غير ما

    يترك الظل من أثر

    it has gained from you nothing but

    the trace a shadow leaves.

  9. إن مثواك بيننا

    غربة ساقها القدر

    Indeed, your dwelling among us

    is an exile brought about by fate.
