يصل بنار كريم غير غدار
Whoever burns in my fire without offense or grievance
Whoever connects with my fire without sin or blame
Burns in the fire of a noble man, no betrayer.
Will connect with the fire of a gracious, noble one

كي لا ألام على نهي وإنذار
I am your warner—“when” [unclear here]—openly,
I am the warner for you all whenever declaimed
So that I may not be blamed, having admonished and warned.
So I have no regrets over prohibiting and warning

So if you disobey my words today, then acknowledge
If you disobey my words today, then admit
That you will encounter disgrace, its shame plain to see.
You will encounter clear, shameful disgrace

لهو المقيم ولهو المدلج الساري
To wash away accursed tales,
Let perish wicked, inflammatory talk
Amusement for the one who stays, and amusement for the traveler journeying by night.

Whoever has a desire within himself that he seeks
Whoever has a crookedness in himself that he seeks
From me—I am pledged to him in the open.
I have it for him, pledged with deserts

I straighten his crookedness, if he is crooked,
I straighten his crookedness if he is crooked
As the shaper straightens an arrow-shaft of nabʿ wood.
As the spring's pitcher is set right

And the stringed instrument's player, time does not overtake him
From me; yet I surely exact vengeance for blood-debts.
I have him with me, and I can pluck the strings
