أَمائِلَةَO you who turn الأَلحاظِthe glances عَنّيaway from me إِلىtoward الأَرضِthe ground
أَمائِلَةَ الأَلحاظِ عَنّي إِلى الأَرضِ
أَهَذاIs this الَّذيwhat تُبدينَyou show وَيحكِalas for you مِنof بُغضِhatred
أَهَذا الَّذي تُبدينَ وَيحكِ مِن بُغضِ
O you who turn your glances away from me toward the ground,
Turning your glances away from me to the ground
Is this the hatred you show—alas for you?
Is this what you show and speaks of your hate?
فَإِنFor if كانَit is بُغضاًhatred لَستُI am not وَاللَّهِby God أَهلَهُdeserving of it
فَإِن كانَ بُغضاً لَستُ وَاللَّهِ أَهلَهُ
وَوَجهيAnd my face بِذاكَof that اللَّحظِglance أَولىworthier مِنَthan الأَرضِthe ground
وَوَجهي بِذاكَ اللَّحظِ أَولى مِنَ الأَرضِ
For if it is hatred, by God, I do not deserve it;
If it's hate, by God, I'm not deserving of it
And my face is worthier of that glance than the ground.
And my face is more deserving of that look than the ground
