مَنwhoever كانَis ذاpossessed of شَكٍّdoubt وَذاand possessed of غَفلَةٍheedlessness
مَن كانَ ذا شَكٍّ وَذا غَفلَةٍ
وَبُغضand hatred of أَهلthe family of البَيتِthe House منpart of شانِهِhis nature
وَبُغض أَهل البَيتِ من شانِهِ
Whoever is given to doubt and heedlessness,
and whose nature is to hate the Prophet’s household—
فَاِنَّماthen only اللَومُthe blame عَلىon أُمَّهِhis mother
فَاِنَّما اللَومُ عَلى أُمَّهِ
أَتَتshe came بِهِwith him منfrom بَعضِone of جيرانِهِhis neighbors
أَتَت بِهِ من بَعضِ جيرانِهِ
the blame lies only with his mother:
she bore him by one of his neighbors.
