تسحَّب ما أَردتَ عَلى الصِباحِ

تسحَّب ما أَردتَ عَلى الصِباحِ

فَهُم لَيلٌ وَأَنتَ أَخو الصَباحِ

فَهُم لَيلٌ وَأَنتَ أَخو الصَباحِ

Put on airs as you please toward the handsome ones;

For they are night, and you are morning’s brother.

لَقَد أَولاكَ رَبُّكَ كلَّ حُسنٍ

لَقَد أَولاكَ رَبُّكَ كلَّ حُسنٍ

وَقد وَلّاكَ مَملَكَةَ المِلاحِ

وَقد وَلّاكَ مَملَكَةَ المِلاحِ

Your Lord has indeed bestowed all beauty upon you,

And has made you ruler of the realm of the fair.

وَبعدُ فَلَيسَ يحضرني شرابٌ

وَبعدُ فَلَيسَ يحضرني شرابٌ

فَأَنعِم مِن رِضابك لي براحِ

فَأَنعِم مِن رِضابك لي براحِ

And now, I have no drink at hand;

So favor me with wine from your saliva.

وَلَيسَ لَدَيَّ نُقل فارتهنّي

وَلَيسَ لَدَيَّ نُقل فارتهنّي

بِنُقلٍ من ثَناياك الوضاحِ

بِنُقلٍ من ثَناياك الوضاحِ

Nor have I sweetmeats; so take me in pledge

For sweetmeats from your gleaming front teeth.
