ياO سَيِّداًmaster أَفديهِI would ransom him عِندَat the time of شكاتِهِhis illness
بِالنَفسِwith my life وَالوَلدِand my child الأَعَزِّdearest وَبِالأَبِand with my father
O master, whom in his illness I would ransom
with my life, my dearest child, and my father.
لِمَwhy لاnot أَبيتُI spend the night عَلىupon الفِراشِthe bed مسهَّداًsleepless
وَقَدand indeed اِشتَكىhas fallen ill عُضوٌa limb منof اِعضاءِthe limbs of النَبِيِّthe Prophet
Why should I not lie sleepless upon my bed,
when one of the Prophet’s limbs has fallen ill?
