أَرى سنتي قَد ضُمِّنَت بِعَجائِبِ

أَرى سنتي قَد ضُمِّنَت بِعَجائِبِ

وَرَبِّيَ يَكفيني جَميعَ النَوائِبِ

وَرَبِّيَ يَكفيني جَميعَ النَوائِبِ

I see that my year has been filled with wonders.

I see my two years have been filled with wonders,

And my Lord shields me from all calamities.

and my Lord is sufficient for me against all misfortunes.

وَيَدفَعُ عَنّي ما أَخافُ بِمَنِّهِ

وَيَدفَعُ عَنّي ما أَخافُ بِمَنِّهِ

وَيُؤمِنُ ما قَد خَوَّفوا من عَواقِبِ

وَيُؤمِنُ ما قَد خَوَّفوا من عَواقِبِ

And by His grace wards off from me what I fear.

He wards off from me what I fear by His bounty,

And makes harmless the consequences they have frightened me with.

and makes safe what they have made me fear as consequences.

إِذا كانَ مَن أَجرى الكَواكِبَ أَمرُهُ

إِذا كانَ مَن أَجرى الكَواكِبَ أَمرُهُ

مُعيني فَما أَخشى صُروفَ الكَواكِب

مُعيني فَما أَخشى صُروفَ الكَواكِب

If He whose command set the stars in motion

If He whose command set the stars in motion

Is my helper, I do not fear the stars' vicissitudes.

is my helper, then why should I fear the cycles of the stars?

عَلَيكَ أَيا رَبَّ السَماءِ توكُّلي

عَلَيكَ أَيا رَبَّ السَماءِ توكُّلي

فَحُطنيَ من شَر الخُطوبِ الحَوارِب

فَحُطنيَ من شَر الخُطوبِ الحَوارِب

In You, O Lord of heaven, I place my trust.

In You, O Lord of the heavens, is my trust,

So guard me from the evil of ravaging calamities.

so protect me from the evils of impending misfortunes.

وَكم سنةٍ حُذِّرتُها فَتَزحزَحت

وَكم سنةٍ حُذِّرتُها فَتَزحزَحت

بِخَيرٍ وَاِقبالٍ وَجدٍّ مصاحبِ

بِخَيرٍ وَاِقبالٍ وَجدٍّ مصاحبِ

And many a year I was warned of has gone by,

And how many years have I been warned of, yet they passed

With goodness, prosperity, and good fortune for company.

with good fortune and prosperity and joy accompanying me.

وَمَن أَضمَرَ اللَهُمَّ سوءاً لِمُهجَتي

وَمَن أَضمَرَ اللَهُمَّ سوءاً لِمُهجَتي

فَرُدَّ عَلَيهِ الكَيدَ أَخيبَ خائِبِ

فَرُدَّ عَلَيهِ الكَيدَ أَخيبَ خائِبِ

And whoever harbors, O God, evil against my life,

And whoever intends evil against me, O Lord,

Then turn his plotting back upon him, leaving him the most thwarted of all who fail.

make their plots rebound upon them, foiled and defeated.

فَلَستُ أُريدُ السوءَ بِالناسِ اِنَّما

فَلَستُ أُريدُ السوءَ بِالناسِ اِنَّما

أُريدُ بِهِم خَيراً مريعَ الجَوانِبِ

أُريدُ بِهِم خَيراً مريعَ الجَوانِبِ

For I wish people no harm; I only

For I do not intend evil against people, rather

Wish them good, flourishing on every side.

I intend good for them, gentle from all sides.

وَأَدفَعُ عَن أَموالِهِم وَنُفوسُهُم

وَأَدفَعُ عَن أَموالِهِم وَنُفوسُهُم

بِجِدّي وَجهدي بِاذلا لِلمَواهِب

بِجِدّي وَجهدي بِاذلا لِلمَواهِب

And I defend their wealth and their lives,

And I defend their wealth and lives

With my diligence and effort, bestowing gifts.

with my dedication and effort, willingly granting favors.

وَمَن لَم يَسَعهُ ذاكَ مِنّي فَاِنَّني

وَمَن لَم يَسَعهُ ذاكَ مِنّي فَاِنَّني

سَأُكفاهُ اِنَّ اللَهَ أَغلَبُ غالِبِ

سَأُكفاهُ اِنَّ اللَهَ أَغلَبُ غالِبِ

And whoever is not content with that from me, I

And whoever cannot accept this from me, then I

Shall be shielded from him; indeed, God is the mightiest of victors.

will be sufficient for him, for God is the greatest conqueror.
