وَقالوا عَلِيٌّ عَلا قلتُ لا

وَقالوا عَلِيٌّ عَلا قلتُ لا

فَاِن العُلى بِعَلِيٍّ عَلا

فَاِن العُلى بِعَلِيٍّ عَلا

And they said, “Ali rose high.” I said, “No—

They said Ali is exalted, I said no

for the heights rose through Ali.”

For exaltation is through Ali exalted

وَلكِن أَقولُ كَقَولِ النَبِيِّ

وَلكِن أَقولُ كَقَولِ النَبِيِّ

وَقَد جَمع الخَلقَ كلَّ الملا

وَقَد جَمع الخَلقَ كلَّ الملا

But I say as the Prophet said,

But I say as the Prophet said

when he had gathered the people, the whole assembly:

When he gathered all people, scholars all

أَلا اِنَّ مَن كُنتُ مَولاً لَهُ

أَلا اِنَّ مَن كُنتُ مَولاً لَهُ

يُوالي عَلِيّاً وَاِلّا فَلا

يُوالي عَلِيّاً وَاِلّا فَلا

“Behold, whoever has me as his master

"Know that whosoever I am his master

must be loyal to Ali; otherwise, I am no master of his.”

Ali is his master, or else no"
