The breeze blew, and the river’s water flows on,

And the fire of my longing blazes in my entrails.

So it fashioned from the river’s water a silvered coat of mail,

And heightened my heart’s burning because of what it feels.

And it kindled my entrails only to serve its own need,

For chain mail is not made without a flame.
