كتبت إلي ترغب في حضوري

كتبت إلي ترغب في حضوري

ورب الفضل دعوته تجاب

ورب الفضل دعوته تجاب

You wrote to me, desiring my presence;

You wrote to me, desiring my presence

And the master of virtue's invitation is answered.

And by the Lord of Grace, your prayer was answered

فقبلت الكتاب وقلت سمعا

فقبلت الكتاب وقلت سمعا

لأمرك سيدي وأنا الجواب

لأمرك سيدي وأنا الجواب

So I kissed the letter and said, “I obey

So I accepted the letter and said "I hear"

Your command, my lord—and I myself am the reply.”

To your order my lord, and I am the answer
