أَنتَ أَولَيتَني الجَميلَ وَلَولا

أَنتَ أَولَيتَني الجَميلَ وَلَولا

ضُعفُ حَظّي لَكُنتُ بِالسَعيِ أَولى

ضُعفُ حَظّي لَكُنتُ بِالسَعيِ أَولى

You have bestowed kindness upon me; and were it not for

You have bestowed upon me the beautiful, though had I not

my poor fortune, it would have been more fitting for me to make the effort.

Been of frail fortune, I would have been more worthy of striving.

لَم تَزَل تَسبُقُ الأَنامِ بِحُسنا

لَم تَزَل تَسبُقُ الأَنامِ بِحُسنا

كَ وَتولي العِبادَ لُطفاً وَطولا

كَ وَتولي العِبادَ لُطفاً وَطولا

You have never ceased to outstrip mankind with your kind-

You never cease to surpass people in kindness,

ness, and to bestow gentleness and bounty upon people.

As you care for worshipers with gentleness and endurance.

قَد تَصَدَّقتَ بِالزِيارَةِ لِلعَب

قَد تَصَدَّقتَ بِالزِيارَةِ لِلعَب

دِ فَصَدَّقتَ فيكَ ظَنّاً وَقولا

دِ فَصَدَّقتَ فيكَ ظَنّاً وَقولا

You have bestowed a visit as charity upon this ser-

You have been charitable in visiting this slave,

vant, thus confirming my belief and words about you.

Thus proving true my hopes and words about you.

فَإِذا زُرتَ زُرتَ عَبداً وَرِقاً

فَإِذا زُرتَ زُرتَ عَبداً وَرِقاً

وَإِذا ذُدتَ ذُدتَ ذُخراً وَمَولى

وَإِذا ذُدتَ ذُدتَ ذُخراً وَمَولى

So if you visit, you visit a servant and a slave;

When you visit, you visit a slave, tender,

and if you turn me away, you turn away a treasure and a retainer.

And when you repel, you repel a treasure and master.
