هُنِئتَ بِالعيدِ بَل هُنِّيَ بِكَ العيدُ

هُنِئتَ بِالعيدِ بَل هُنِّيَ بِكَ العيدُ

فَأَنتَ لِلجودِ بَل إِرثٌ لَكَ الجودُ

فَأَنتَ لِلجودِ بَل إِرثٌ لَكَ الجودُ

You are congratulated on Eid—rather, Eid is congratulated on you.

For you belong to generosity—rather, generosity is your inheritance.

يا مَن عَلى الناسِ مَقصورٌ تَفَضُّلُهُ

يا مَن عَلى الناسِ مَقصورٌ تَفَضُّلُهُ

وَظِلُّ رَحمَتِهِ في الأَرضِ مَمدودُ

وَظِلُّ رَحمَتِهِ في الأَرضِ مَمدودُ

O you whose bounty is reserved for humankind,

And whose mercy's shade stretches across the earth.

أَضحَت بَدَولَتِكَ الأَيّامُ مُشرِقَةً

أَضحَت بَدَولَتِكَ الأَيّامُ مُشرِقَةً

كَأَنَّها لِخُدودِ الدَهرِ تَوريدُ

كَأَنَّها لِخُدودِ الدَهرِ تَوريدُ

Under your rule the days have become radiant,

As though they were a rosy blush upon Time's cheeks.

أُعطيتَ في المُلكِ مالانَ الحَديدُ لَهُ

أُعطيتَ في المُلكِ مالانَ الحَديدُ لَهُ

حُكماً فَأَنتَ سُلَيمانٌ وَداودُ

حُكماً فَأَنتَ سُلَيمانٌ وَداودُ

In kingship you were granted that before which iron softened:

Authority—thus you are Solomon and David.

لَكَ اليَدانِ اللَتانِ اِمتاحَ بِرَّهُما

لَكَ اليَدانِ اللَتانِ اِمتاحَ بِرَّهُما

بَنو الزَمانِ وَريعَت مِنهُما الصيدُ

بَنو الزَمانِ وَريعَت مِنهُما الصيدُ

Yours are the two hands whose bounty has been drawn

By the sons of Time, and before which proud lords trembled.

قَضى وُجودُهُما فينا وَجودُهُما

قَضى وُجودُهُما فينا وَجودُهُما

تَكذيبَ مَن قالَ إِنَّ الجودَ مَفقودُ

تَكذيبَ مَن قالَ إِنَّ الجودَ مَفقودُ

Their presence among us and their generosity have brought about

The refutation of whoever said that generosity was lost.

ماذا أَقولُ وَمَدحي فيكَ ذو قِصَرٍ

ماذا أَقولُ وَمَدحي فيكَ ذو قِصَرٍ

وَأَنتَ بِالفِعلِ مَمدوحٌ وَمَحمودُ

وَأَنتَ بِالفِعلِ مَمدوحٌ وَمَحمودُ

What can I say, when my praise of you falls short,

While your deeds earn you praise and acclaim?

إِذا نَظَمتُ بَديعَ الشِعرِ قابَلَني

إِذا نَظَمتُ بَديعَ الشِعرِ قابَلَني

مِنَ السَماحِ بَديعٌ مِنكَ مَنقودُ

مِنَ السَماحِ بَديعٌ مِنكَ مَنقودُ

When I compose exquisite verse, I am met

With exquisite generosity from you, paid out in coin.

فَلا مَعانيهِ في الحُسنى مُغَلغَلَةٌ

فَلا مَعانيهِ في الحُسنى مُغَلغَلَةٌ

وَلا بِأَلفاظِهِ في البِرِّ تَعقيدُ

وَلا بِأَلفاظِهِ في البِرِّ تَعقيدُ

So its meanings of goodness are not obscure,

Nor is there any tangle in its words of kindness.

فَعِشتَ يوليكَ طَيبَ العَيشِ أَربَعَةٌ

فَعِشتَ يوليكَ طَيبَ العَيشِ أَربَعَةٌ

عِزٌّ وَنَصرٌ وَإِقبالٌ وَتَأيِيدُ

عِزٌّ وَنَصرٌ وَإِقبالٌ وَتَأيِيدُ

So may you live, with four things granting you life's sweetness:

Glory, victory, good fortune, and support.

وَلا خَلَت كُلَّ عامٍ مِنكَ أَربَعَةٌ

وَلا خَلَت كُلَّ عامٍ مِنكَ أَربَعَةٌ

نِسكٌ وَصَومٌ وَإِفطارٌ وَتَعيِيدُ

نِسكٌ وَصَومٌ وَإِفطارٌ وَتَعيِيدُ

And each year may four things never lack your presence:

Ritual worship, fasting, breaking the fast, and celebrating Eid.
