We turned aside to Wadi al-Safa, and serene grew

my life, while care turned away, departing.

And there for us, with the sun in Leo,

in summer, its sign seemed to be Aries,

in a garden for which spring had woven

carpets, and clothed its spreading trees in robes.

    Its gardens remain fresh

forever, while its sun's mantle stays threadbare.

    فَأَقامَ لا يَبغي بِها حِوَلا

    So the clouds' rain seemed to be in love with her;

and so it stayed there, seeking no change of abode.

It kept weeping over her and reproaching her,

until her cheek grew rosy with shame.
