لَئِن سَلَّ الزَمانُ لَنا مَناصِل

لَئِن سَلَّ الزَمانُ لَنا مَناصِل

فَصُنعُ الوُدَّ عِندي غَيرُ ناصِل

فَصُنعُ الوُدَّ عِندي غَيرُ ناصِل

Though time has drawn blades against us,

If time has severed bonds for us,

Yet my acts of affection do not fade.

My friendship is not easily undone;

وَإِن أَخَّرتُ عَن مَولايَ سَعيِي

وَإِن أَخَّرتُ عَن مَولايَ سَعيِي

فَإِنّي بِالدُعاءِ لَهُ مُواصِل

فَإِنّي بِالدُعاءِ لَهُ مُواصِل

And if I have delayed my efforts for my lord,

And if I've delayed serving my master,

I still continue to pray for him.

I still beseech him in my prayers;

وَإِنّي إِن وَصَفتُ لَهُ وَلائي

وَإِنّي إِن وَصَفتُ لَهُ وَلائي

كَأَنّي طالِبٌ تَحصيلَ حاصِل

كَأَنّي طالِبٌ تَحصيلَ حاصِل

And if I describe my loyalty to him,

And if I describe my loyalty to him

It is as though I seek to attain what is already attained.

It's as if I'm trying to obtain what's already mine;

وَلَم يَكُ ذَلِكَ التَأخيرُ إِلّا

وَلَم يَكُ ذَلِكَ التَأخيرُ إِلّا

لِما أَلقاهُ مِن أَلَمِ المَفاصِل

لِما أَلقاهُ مِن أَلَمِ المَفاصِل

And that delay was due only

That delay wasn't out of anything

To the pain I suffer in my joints.

But the pain in my joints.
