فيin بَيتِهِhis house كَالمَيتِlike a dead man فيin رَمسِهِhis grave
The man of reason is one who has come to live in seclusion,
In his house, like a dead man in his grave,
مُنفَرِداًalone بِالفِكرِin thought عَنapart from صَحبِهِhis companions
مُستَوحِشاًfeeling estranged بِالإِنسِby humankind مِنfrom أُنسِهِhis solace
Alone in thought, apart from his companions,
Estranged by humankind from his own solace.

Now he grows fond of no friend, nor
Keeps company with anyone not of his kind.

Nor does the lion desire, in his forest,
Any companion there other than himself.
