قد أقبل السبت بأنواره

يهدي التقى بالأمن والسبت

Saturday has come with its lights,

bringing piety with safety and repose.

وجاء بالسير على سبته

أخو الشجا فعاد بالسبت

And, walking on his leather soles, there came

a sorrow-laden man, who returned with a swift steed.

وجدّ بالغبراء في سبتها

ليذهب الأتراح كالسبت

He urged the dust-gray mare on in her gallop,

to dispel sorrows, as sleep does,

لدى همام خير سبت

إلى أخذ الثنا يصبو بلا سبت

before a noble lord, the finest of astute men,

who longs to win praise without pause.
