ياO مَنyou who حَكَتshe resembled شَمسَthe sun النَهارِdaytime بِحُسنِهاin her beauty
يا مَن حَكَت شَمسَ النَهارِ بِحُسنِها
وَبُعادِand the remoteness of مَنزِلِهاher dwelling وَبَهجَةِand the splendor of نورِهاher light
وَبُعادِ مَنزِلِها وَبَهجَةِ نورِها
O you who resemble the sun of day in your beauty,
O You who shaped the sun of day with its beauty,
And in your dwelling’s remoteness and your light’s splendor,
And the distance of its abode and the joy of its light,
هَلّاwhy not عَدَلتِyou were fair كَعَدلِهاlike her fairness إِذwhen صَيَّرَتshe made
هَلّا عَدَلتِ كَعَدلِها إِذ صَيَّرَت
لِلناسِfor people غَيبَتَهاher absence بِقَدرِequal in measure to حُضورِهاher presence
لِلناسِ غَيبَتَها بِقَدرِ حُضورِها
Why have you not been as fair as she, when she made
Why do You not make its justice as You made
Her absence equal to her presence for humankind?
Its absence for people commensurate with its presence?
