قَدindeed أَقعَدَتنيhave immobilized me عَنكُمُaway from you مَفاصِلٌjoints
قَد أَقعَدَتني عَنكُمُ مَفاصِلٌ
وَإِنand although أَقامَتthey have established فيin اِنقِطاعيmy absence عُذريmy excuse
وَإِن أَقامَت في اِنقِطاعي عُذري
My joints have indeed kept me from you,
My joints have made me cease to see you all,
Though they have furnished my excuse for staying away.
And though my absence may excuse me still,
فَصِرتُso I have become مِنfrom بَعدِafter الحَراكِmovement ساكِناًmotionless
فَصِرتُ مِن بَعدِ الحَراكِ ساكِناً
كَالياءِlike the letter yāʾ فيin القاضيthe judge وَفيand in المُستَشريthe rampant one
كَالياءِ في القاضي وَفي المُستَشري
So, after movement, I have become motionless,
After much coming-going, motionless
Like the yāʾ in al-qāḍī ('the judge') and in al-mustashrī ('the rampant one').
Am I, like ya in judge and deputy.
