    May God protect a people who set us right through their injustice,

    though subjects are customarily set right through justice.

    Through them we learned prudence in affairs; we had never

    considered thinking well of others a kind of ignorance.

    So, O you who gave us, through your evil deeds,

    experiences of wrongdoing that awakened the ways of reason:

    وَإِن بِتُّ مَغروراً بِكُم فَعَلى رِسلي

    Take your time in injustice if you return once more;

    and if I spend the night deceived by you, then I shall take my time.
